Choosing a suitable pet for your child

By

There are a lot of factors to consider when choosing a pet for your child. The first big thing to consider is the expense. It may seem that the price of the animal is not much but then there is the cost of feeding it, vets bills and buying anything else that it needs. You also need to consider space because some animals take up a lot of room. It is likely that the child will not want to look after it all of the time and so parents will need to be aware that they will be the ones cleaning up after it, feeding it and doing everything else. Think about the age of your child and whether the pet they want is suitable for their age as well as for your budget and household. It is also worth considering what will happen to it when you go away on holiday or if you tend to be out of the house all day. It is also important to think about the lifespan of the pet and how that might effect the child – one that does not live long may cause them to be upset and one that lives a long time may be left with you when the child leaves home.
